SKILL 60: DISTINGUSH OTHER, ANOTHER, AND OTHERS.


Other, another and others are very easy to confuse.
Use another only to refer to an indefinite, singular idea. Others is used only as a plural pronoun (not accompanied by a noun). In all other cases, other is correct.


SINGULAR   PLURAL

Indefinite 

I have another car. 
I have other cars.
I have another. 
I have others.

Definite 
I have the other car 
I have the other cars.
I have the other. 
I have the others.
